Rant
A Requiem of Rant Quotes
The release is one day away, I'm sure people have finished the ARCs, and it's inevitable that this thread will appear. I say requiem because that's how I see quotes: like lost souls of a greater whole, a homage to the departed, or a farewell to a bo
Post 'Rant" Reviews, Articles & Interviews Here
Hey guys,
Something I want to try and do this time around with the release of 'Rant', Chuck's next novel, is recruit your help in gathering all the media that surfaces along with this book. Now, I've done this in the past too, but we've never had
Rant Essay
I wrote this as a response to Rant. It was an Undergraduate English/Public Speaking assignment and I could choose any topic.

Rant Movie Adaptation Idea
Just an idea I had...
If/when Rant is adapted to a movie there should be a dramatic montage at the part when Rant sets the tree on fire / Police chase / time travel crash. Following the Medius-Res style of writing, the montage would cut between scenes during the chase and scenes leading up to it (at the gas station). All in slow motion, and to the tune "I'm on Fire", preferably the Bat for Lashes cover version.

RANT sales
Is there anyway to get definitive numbers on how many copies of Rant have been sold? It seems like we can track movie box office, dvd sales, and music downloads; but is there anyway to track book sales? Loved Rant and love discussing it, just curious how it compares in sales to other fiction.
Rant Limited Edition - Recipes for Disasters
I really liked Rant. I don't know if I liked it enough to buy the Limited Edition, but I might if it is recommended highly enough. Or maybe I'd just go to the library for the first time since High School (yeah, i never even when when in college).
I digress, what I really want to know is if the 1300 word afterward, "Recipes for Disasters" is worth the Limited Edition.
Thanks!
Did anyone else think of things like this?
OK I know this is long and rambling, but do me a favor of reading it and telling me what you think
I just finished Rant, and while browsing the forums I didn't notice anyone looking at the Green/Chet/Rant connection the same way that I did.
Thoughts on the type of people(Audio, Visual, ect )
The Sales person brings up mirroring and speaking to people using there specific personality type. I'd have to go back and find specific quotes. It got me thinking that there maybe some other types in the major characters we are prestented with. This is a theme repeated a few times in the book, I'd really like to re-read the book and try to see if it's possible to label each character.
Boosting for example is explained as "an extra noise, pair of eyes, ect" which got me to thinking can a person's communication method be boosting itself.
Rant has an amazing sense of smell this maybe what made him immune (As Casey) to the slick car salesmen's attempt to control the conversation when they first meet on the plane. (Interesting that Rant could have taken a shot to be immune to car salesmen's bullshit...)
Shot has an addiction to boosting, I think that's his perferred communication method.
Did Anyone Else Audiobook It?
I was at a Barnes and Noble right before a really long drive, and I had decided to give audiobooks a shot. I saw Rant, and really couldn't pass it up. I thought the work translated really well, since it's basically an endless stream of first person narrative. Towards the beginning the acting was a little rough, and I felt like there were far too many southern accents in play. Honestly, having gone the audiobook route with this work, I can't imagine getting it any other way. It translated exceptionally well, and they went through the trouble of getting different actors for each role. It really lent to the feel of the whole thing.
As for reviewing. I loved it, though I may not have been as impressed with it in print.
*Not sure if spoiler...* ports????
I can't remember what chapter number I am on, it is the chapter after "Echo"
But my question is, what year is this novel circa? I kind of got time travel things spoiled by a topic creator who didn't label spoilers in the topic name, but it seems like it may be in the future with the whole ports on the back of the neck. So far I don't think the book has given any kind of date but when the chapter where he talks about all the out-cording and the boosts, it kind of confuses me. Does it ever tell later in the story? Thank you very much.
