Melody's Marvelous Meet Up Adventure: NYC '08

Drank Funk and how it came to be. NYC Meetup 2008
For those of you who don't know, we ended up having a little meetup this past weekend. Yeah some people from places like Ireland and England as well as many parts of the U.S. showed up, no big whoop. Many people from the New York area came out of the wood work as well and helped us around the city.
In truth, we had a ton of people show up for this meetup. I'm pretty sure this was the largest meetup ever. It all came to be because our beloved Barcaboy wanted to visit America. Turns out America showed up to meet him. Here are some pics and some words that will go along with them.
New York, New York Barca Boy says Thank You.
HI Im Ironman!
I want to thank all my fellow Culties for keeping me entertained in New York. I knew it was going to be good but to tell the truth it was the best holiday ever. Every Cultie was unique but all were great to spend time with. I consolidated some old friendships and got to know some new faces. Not to single out folks but I was incredibly impressed with the folks I barely knew before the trip. Jase, Jay and Jenn I knew little about, but now I would consider them friends. Meeting Jases wife Natalie was worth the ticket fare. I brought some silly gifts but everyon was realy gratefull.
I cant believe Melody thought I would be a nerd or geek but I changed her mind. Moonies a legend and Bess, Shana and Alex are adorable. Bethany has a wickd sense of huour. Im not going to list them all because Im sure I would leave somone out and cause offense. Speaking of offence "Go Giants! WORD"
FIRST! NYC Meet-Up 08 Pics
Turns out I only took about 3 1/2 pictures the entire day I was hanging out with everyone, but here they are:
Here is moe., mr hash and synnove in Times Square: (there's wickerkat, Mark Grover and mexicretin in the background)
balthazar, glamhoth, top gun, succotash moon and smartazboy:

Finally, the elusive Smile of smartazboy:
wow
wow. fuck this. im going to dinner tonight just because i already paid for it but fuck this. i have never met a more moronic, boring group of people in my entire life. honestly, im not even going to post after this, except maybe to respond to the inevitable claims of the people who came on this trip. with the exception of like one or two people, everyone who came today is mind-blowingly stupid and or unbearable. great try and all cult...but this was fucking retarded. dinner was absolutely torturous, and drinks were...i dont even know what to say that is worse than torturous. i am so turned off by all these goddamn idiots that i can no longer hope for anything positive from the cult. i dont even care who sees this when they get home from their trip. i will nod and smile and pretend i enjoyed all their company (and i did, like two of them), but this was horrendous. dont anyone ever do a meetup - please, for your own good. i cant even begin to explain how horrible it was...just trust me, it was.
love tom.
ps - ugh.
Airport Meeting
I'm suddenly worried about this. How is this going to work? No one knows where anyone is arriving...I don't know where everyone is arriving from, with the exception of a few people, so looking at the arrivals screen isn't going to help either.
How bout...if you're an out-of-towner, can you put where you're flying in from? And if you're a New Yorker who is going to the airport to meet people, say so here, so we can coordinate meeting up in advance or something. K?
Final headcount for Friday's dinner
Hi everyone...
Friday's dinner at Brother Jimmy's is set for 8.30. I just need a final headcount, because I need to pay in advance. Please let me know if you are coming as soon as possible. Thanks!
FYI - the restaurant is located at 1485 Second Avenue (between 77th and 78th Streets)
The NYC Gossip Thread
with so many cult hotties meeting up this weekend there has to be some romance in the air.
who will fall for alex pallix? better question who will NOT fall for alex pallix? will frank and derek, all heated up after an evening of fun, laughter and too much irish candy exchange some few shy kisses in a dark alley? will maso gets some glam?
let the rumors commence.
NYC Fancy Dinner Saturday Night (2/2)
Ok so Richard (WickerKat) and I have been discussing going somewhere really nice for dinner saturday night.
I'm thinking places that are $60-$120/person food and drinks.
I'm gonna try and look out for places that are jeans ok, but this may require a skirt or slacks I'll steer clear or jacket places though...
The ninja sushi Tom mentioned earlier sounds cool, and there are also some other classy french places that seem interesting to me.
I'm open to restaurant suggestions at this point, but was wondering who else whould be up for a pricey dinner while in NYC.
Post here if you're up for it. cause we may pick a place that requires reservations especially if there is a group of us going.
