Hello everybody,

Quick introduction:
First off, my name is Danny and I'm 26. I now live in Dusseldorf (Germany), but am originally from San Diego, CA. I'm married (my wife is German) and I've been living out of the US for about 2 years. I went to SDSU and have a BA in Arts (painting)and currently do nothing in that field ;)I'm working your typical 9-5 desk post at the moment. I also play a few instruments and am currently in a band.

New

Hey everyone, I've been lurking the website as a whole for a while but haven't actually posted until now.

I'm English, from Yorkshire. I'll admit I first got into Palahniuk when I was younger through the medium of the Fight Club movie, probably about seven years ago now. I was always a massive Jeffery Deaver fan but I'm currently reading a lot of Douglas Coupland's and Bret Easton Ellis's work. I'm also doing my dissertation at the moment on Palahniuk, Coupland and Ellis :)

and I've just got around to updating my interests in my profile if you want to know what kind of music, films and tele I'm into. The only things that it won't tell you are that I love computer games and a good night out!

Oh, and I want to join the writers workshop when money permits, unfortunately the pound is weak against the dollar at the moment and my hours at work have been cut :(

yet another newbie

Howdie all.

I'm new to the Cult. But I love Chuck Palahniuk's writing. He has influenced my own writing style, and many have his books have matured my view on this, stupid, post-modern world.

I'm thinking of using the Writing Workshops to my advantage but just wanted to say i'm new, and my name is James. But you can call me Lockwood. I guess. Its the name of the setting of the book im writing.

My fav. Chuck Novel is Haunted.

Sup yall?

um, I'm new so yeah...

So my name's Jon. I live in a little town called Huntley. It's in Montana. Don't think of me as a hick or a cowboy though, I fucking dispise country music and am about as far away from a cowboy as one can be. I'm a junior in high school, although I really don't go to a "high school" so much anymore than just a trailer park with a bunch of make shift classrooms in it. The ol' high school was burned down by some dumb fucking arsonists in September... But none of that is really pertinent, so i'll get back on track.

I like Palahniuk's writing a lot, altough I've only read Lullaby, Choke, and Haunted. Hopefully I'll be able to consume some more of his stuff after I finish reading Bagombo Snuff Box.

I'm an aspiring writer. I wrote out my new year's resolutions this morning and decided I'd like to get a short story published. I don't know how acheivable of a goal that is but I'm going to try do it anyway. Hopefully, the cult will help me improve my writing enough to do so.

Where's a witty title when you need one?

Yeah I was going to say something clever to garner attention but my humor hath failed me.

Hi everyone! I actually made an account here nigh upon a year ago, but promptly forgot about it for some reason. Having no soul, and subsequently a myspace, I saw a bullitin from Chuck's account and ventured here out of curiousity. After pounding my head on the keyboard (My email CAN'T already be registered! WHAT IS THIS?), questioning how many personalities I really did have, and then remembering that it was me who registered, I decided to become an active member. Here I am!

My love affair with Chuck's brain began when I glimpsed Brad Pitt's abs on the t.v as I passed by it. Yes, I will admit to being shallow. I slumped into the couch to watch the rest of the movie for the eye candy factor alone, teenage girl hormones assauged, when I was struck with the acutal content. Wierd, huh?

Seems interesting and fun enough so I'll give it a go.
I apologize if sometimes my English may be not that great but it is not my mother tongue, as I am portuguese.

I'll be seeing you around.

And of course, happy 2009.

I still can't think of anything.

Another pointless newbie.

Story of my life with Chuck 'Luk
(Which you have no idea of knowing the truthfulness of, I could be making it all up, and so could you):
Saw Fight Club, loved it. Little while went by. Saw Fight Club again, love affair rekindled. Read Fight Club, loved it. Had Invisible Monsters recommended by friend, read it, loved it. Remembered Choke was being made into a movie, figured it might be good, read it, loved it. Recently recieved Fight Club (book) for Christmas. Also still own Fight Club (movie). Watch and read both all the time. Have audio of Fight Club movie on iPod, occasionally listen to it instead of music.

Currently:
Reading Haunted (also recieved for Christmas); wating for Choke (which looks awesome) to come out on DVD; waiting for a few years to go by so Invisible Monsters movie can come out; joining forum on author's official website; typing this sentence.

Just nod if you can hear me.

Hello. I'm new so thought I'd say hi.

I'm from the North of England and have been a Palahniuk fan for a long time. This post is heading towards an e-harmony vibe now so I'll stop here.

btw I went on a Palahniuk bender this past summer reading and re-reading all but three of his books. Now though, I can't seem to find a new book or author that can hold my attention. So if any one has any book/author type recommendations, I'd appreciate them.

Thanks.

Is the workshops worth it?

I felt that this would be a better place to ask this question then other places where I might get yelled at by some not so understanding people.

I've been looking over some of the Workshop forums just getting a feel for them and the site in general as I am pretty new to The Cult and so far have only posted about the books that Chuck have written and I was just wondering about people's opinions on whether or not the workshops are actually worth the money.

Now I know that they are really cheap considering how much Chuck had paid for his and how much I could be paying but I am a college student trying to work two jobs and keep up with a lot including money so I'm sure you can understand I'd like to be careful with my money. I would love to be able to just throw my money into the workshops and just go and see what I can get out of it but that's not really an option for me right now.

evil twin

13twin (member here) is my evil twin (quite literally...identical), she got me into this mess and I don't want to get out. I want to sink deeper and deeper into the pit of Chuck, like quicksand filling my every orifice suffacating me, making me spew grotesque juicy details without inhibitions. I have no inhibitions, my frontal lobe is still in infancy and I get weird looks and reactions from general society about my commentaries, stories, and impulses. Pehaps here I may find..........you let me know....
