I have a couple of ebay auctions going. I have some Palahniuk stuff up, also a couple by William Gibson, a Clive Barker and a sweet copy of To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee. All are signed copies.

I'm posting some Paul Bowles, Bukowski, and a red signed House of Leaves later tonight or tomorrow so keep an eye out if you're interested.

Trades and Barters is a premium forum so if you have any questions and don't have a subscription, just PM me.

My listings are all for US bidders only unless you "know" me. (There is a long nightmarish story behind this.) So, if you are a cultie and interested in bidding, just shoot me a PM or contact me through ebay messages.

Check em' out here!

I love Clive Barker! What do you have by him? I have a huge coffee table book of his paintings with gold leaf on the page edges! He's great.

I have a ton of his stuff in mass market paperback. :) I have a couple of nice collectibles including his very first novel, signed!

He's pretty awesome. I've read his books, but I have never checked out his art.

sweet. He does this one series kind of for young teens called Abarat, and he illistrates all of them with tons of his works. I started reading them in sixth grade, and I'm still interested in them, which must mean he's doing something right. I have a couple of his other stuff, like Cabal, and Imajica. I have yet to read those though. Look at this:

Heaven and Hell looks pretty interesting. I wish that was one that you could preview and look inside.

I would of course, return it! But, why don't I just keep an eye out for it in bookstores instead of taking the chance anything happens to it in transit. :)
Nightmarish story please?
It's actually two stories.

Paypal requires online tracking for proof of delivery. Regular US post does not track to other countries.

I used UPS ( a private shipping Co.) to send something with online confirmation to Canada, the buyer got hit with a huge brokerage fee which I ended up reimbursing because I'm fair like that. Then I sent something to France using regular US post, and the buyer sent me a thank you email, AND left me positive feedback. Then she disputed the charge with Paypal saying she never received the item. Because I did not have proof of online tracking (though I did have several emails with the buyer discussing shipping options, plus a thank you email), Paypal gave a refund to the buyer.

I like puppies. Plus she's in France. I suppose I could have asked Ludwig to beat her about the head with a baguette.

The horror stories abound. It's too bad, that whole a few bad apples cliche.

So, the horror stories truly do abound.

Some fucker created a brand new account yesterday, zero feedback, and bid up all my auctions, then apparently reported themselves, or someone else did, I don't know, because I got home late last night and all my auctions were canceled, my account suspended for 14 days, and all my listing fees forfeit.

I don't know if it was someone screwing with me, or someone that mistakenly thought they were "helping" me, but basically, my reputation is trashed, my items are unsold. Basically, I'm screwed.

I'm sorry if you were watching or bidding on my items.

I am emailing back and forth with ebay, but they just keep sending me canned responses

. .

ebay footed me a 14 day account cancelation because some asshole must have spammed me for my password and upped a cell phone into my account. one of those ghost cell phones, some scam or other. the kind where, to get this phone, you have to send a money order to said address whatever.. ebay canceled all of my auctions and put me on freeze for 14 days. id just sold all of my hempel first editions and some gaming console and whatever else. we really needed the money at that point and one night everything is fine and the next morning i have six emails that are messages from people asking why i was stealing the money theyd sent and the they were quite upset/mean about it.

I fucking contacted ebay by having them call me while i was online. motherfuckers couldnt reinstate my auctions but did unfreeze my account, leaving me on a form of probationary review. my name wasnt destroyed, but i hate being eyed.

i contacted every person who sent payment for the items they won and assured them that their items did get sent. each and every one did get their shit, but the transactions were cancelled by ebay so i didnt get feedback for my first dozen item sells.

life just aint fair sometimes.
im sorry, mirk, and good luck

wow that blows - you sure it was a REAL ebay thing? there are scams out there - don't ever reply to an ebay email, just GO THERE and look up your account

i'll pm you to re-discuss those items we were chatting about - i'd be glad to give you a fair price on those books if you don't want to deal with ebay

peace,
richard

Hey Kabol,

Thanks for posting that because I honestly have been feeling like total crap about this since last night. I got home from work and went to check my auctions, I'd worked for 10 hours and was exhausted and you know how fun it is to see if you have any new bids and all. :) I just felt slapped, drank an entire bottle of wine, slept bad, woke up still not believing it. It's good to have someone to commiserate with even though I do feel bad you had such a crappy experience too.

I'm glad you got your account reinstated fast, it gives me hope that I might be able to get someone on the phone to sort this out. I really want my listing fees back. I spent extra to add more pictures so people could really see what they're getting etc.

I think it might be one of two people: One who bitched at me for ending my FC auction at 1:00 AM their time, then stayed up to snipe and still lost it. Or, two, a member with horrible feedback (60%!) whose bids I cancelled and blocked from bidding on my auctions. They sent me a bunch of messages via ebay flipping out on me for not letting them bid. Maybe I can get ebay to check those two members out, check IPs or something.

I'm glad it all worked out for you in the end. Too bad about the feedback though.

Thanks again,

Meerk :)

Yes, it was ebay because when I logged in to my account, there was a message from them indicating my account was suspended. I'm pretty good about not falling for phishing emails. :)

Thanks, I'll check your PM. Honestly, I am really kind of hungover and stressed out right now so I don't know if I want to make any decisions, though I appreciate your offer.

I asked you how it went the other day and you said it went well. That sucks Mirka. You would think that a company like e-bay would be able to keep ridiculous mistakes from happening. Sorry Mirka.

Wow

So, I just got a message via ebay messages from a brand new member that registered today. He/She/It called me a "fucking bitch" and said/asked how does it feel to be "destroyed" by a "TRUE" Palahniuk fan. True was all in caps. It said more, but jesus, my head is reeling.

Oh, and guess what, there is nowhere in the message console for me to forward or report that message to ebay..

well, if you dont feel any particular professional obligations to fuckhead, please share his ebay handle (and email if findable..) cause id love to check bitch (if it's a girl) or cunt (if it's a boy) out.

a number of years ago, my first ebay account had more than 100 positive transactions with a whopping 100 percent rating. this was back in the first through second quarter of 2000. id shared the account with a friend and roommate--he had the computer and i had the ebay account.. i was pretty breainless about comps at the time. anywho.. he was a very passive aggressive person and became unbareable to live with so i moved out on my own. he felt that half of the ebay account was his property and i should "buy him out" or some such shite. made no sense to me, but what did make sense is that i didnt value the account and let his keep it provided that we take off my account info--hed already changed the password on me, i found out when we logged in to change the info haha whatever. anyway.. six months later i got a call on my cellphone from someone saying id ripped him off and i had seven ebay thefts and i was going to be reported to ebay if i didnt send either his dvds or his money back. i at that point never owned any dvds. i looked up that account name and sure enough, there were several auctions in a row with recent negative feedback. dude put up a shit load of auctions and collected the money and never sent out the won items. one was an auction for seven dvds, collector copies, expensive back then. one was his ps2 with several games. he collected the moneys and resigned to keep his stuff. the reason i got the calls was because this once friend ammended the contact information to show my personal cell number and not his number and address.. every time i got a contact, i offered that it wasnt my debt nor my account, that they were ripped off by another person. i sent him an email and told him that if he ever walked into a place and saw me, to not stay at that place, that we should not ever meet up with one another again. a few years ago--honestly--id have hurt him, bad. little bitch. ebay is full of them.

Wow. My sympathies. It sucks that ebay is so vulnerable to petty terrorism against a reliable seller. And so frigging dumb to fast remedies. Sorry for your troubles.

I am still hoping to get someone on the phone. I want them to review all the messages I have recieved through ebay messages if possible to see if it the same person.

persevere!

So I finally got a real person on the othe rend of the email chain that REVIEWED my case and refunded me my auction fees and lifted the restriction. It was auction interference and I am looking at my two main suspects and one is no longer a registered user.. :)
