myshotgunface - an Interview by Synnove
1.Tell everyone a little about yourself – name, origin of username, age, etc..
my name is alissa and i am 23 (24 in november). my username was a bit of a playon invisible monsters, due to her face getting blown half off and all, i also just like the way it sounds and the mental image it brings to mind (not literally the idea of someone losing half their face... but instead the imagery and colors that come to mind)
2.Why did you join the Cult? Is it everything you expected?
I joined the Cult originally because of my love for Chuck's writing, and only for that reason, however it has become more about the reasons i stay... i love the conversations and the different types of personalities found here. there is always something to talk about with someone who will more than likely have something intellectual to say (of course there are always exceptions)
3.Where did you grow up? Where are you now?
Born and raised in New Jersey, lived in the same house since I was born... for 5 years in college I moved to New Brunswick in New Jersey and lived with friends, and alone... but I am back in north Jersey now...commuting daily to the city for work...bahhh
4.What was your favorite cartoon as a child?
Transformers and Speed Racer, I hated most things involved with being a girl, probably due to all of my brothers and male cousins...
5.What do you do in your free time? Your work time?
hmmm
in my free time (any that i have, i see friends as much as ai can, drink a bit on the weekends... drive A LOT! i LOVE singing... and dancing as well. I took last week off work bc i work at a camp for children with heart conditions every summer, and all throughout the year do fundraising and go to meetings for it to build the program... so i do a lot with that on my time off, some people wouldn't see that as something fun to do with time off, but for me...it is life.
my work time, i spend my time running between court houses and jails, and emailing friends, and catching up on the cult.
6.What is the worst job you’ve ever done?
hmmm i have found enjoyment in every job i have ever had, but if i HAD to pick... i would say, the last few months of my working at Dunkin' Donuts...
I worked there for 3 years when i was 14-17... and the first 2 1/2 years were awesome. my brother and all of our friends worked there with us, i have an obsession with coffee so that was great, and our boss was fantastic. so all around it was good times, HOWEVER! new management took over, and slowly my friends started quitting, my brother also quit, but i needed the money so i couldn't just throw in the towel. well a few months went by, and i got all new workers around me, most of whom did not speak english, which is fine...but it made for a very quite work environment which i am not accustomed to. So, one day one worker who i did not particularly care for we shall say was in my face a whole bunch, not really sure why, or why that day was the day he chose to do all this. so i take someones order and go to fill it and when i turn around he had a just finished pot of BOILING hot coffee, and poured it directly down the front of my shirt, thus burning my chest and stomach horribly... he said it was an accident, there is no way though. so i am, in pain for a few weeks, and end up going on vacation with my family, i come back all healed finally, and i am taking someone else's order... i need to cut a bagel so i ask him if i can use the knife he is using when he is done... he says "sure here you go" and hands it to me, without looking i grab it, and he pull sit back with my hand wrapped around it...problem was he handed it to be seraded side first, so my hand was wrapped around the knife part... as my pinky finger hung half off my finger, i realized it was time to leave that job...
7.How do you know when you’re in love?
it's only happened once, with my ex, and we are attempting to rekindle things right now. i knew i loved him the moment i met him, which was three years before we started dating. we were very close friends and i loved him through it all, but never was in love with him. we stopped speaking for about 9 months bc he said he could not handle being my friend, an not being with me... finally i was going to a concert and saw on his away message or something that he too was going, i called him and asked him to come by my house first and we could all go together, he said of course! and we did... we hung out all night and after, we held hands and ran the whole way home and as cheesy as it sounds, we even ran through sprinklers... i would not have asked for a more perfect night... that's when i fell in love...
8.If you were a can of soup, which one would you be?
ooooooooeither progresso broccoli, potato, and three cheese, or stars in veggie broth...
9."Imagine you could trade places with anyone for just a week. The person could be famous or not famous, living or from history, real or fictional. With whom would you trade places?"
Lucille Ball!!!
i love her, and trading places with her would be amazing.
10.If aliens landed in front of you and, in exchange for anything you desire, offered you any position on their planet, what would you want?"
i am a bit confused by the question...
so aliens land and and offer me anything i desire AND a position on their planet?
Great Interview Thanks Guys. Now we know a bit more about shotgunwedding!
After reading that I will never eat in Dunkin Donuts again.
Dark past, bright future, living abroad, well read. You're like the reincarnation of James Dean, hopefully with better driving skills ( Tomstrong on me, best compliment I ever got! )
I would approach them cautiously and ask them Is Cujo a good name for a Cat?

Holy hell. Was he at least fired?
Nice interview.
Alissa, I saw you mentioned working at the camp a couple of weeks ago. How did it go? I recall reading about your brother dying of a heart condition. If you want to share, does working with these campers make you miss your brother or does it help dealing with your loss?

yes i did lose my brother to a heart condition. he was the first camper ever to go to the camp when he was 7 years old, and became a counselor when he was 18... i became a counselor when i was 17 and have been for 7 years. the camp is the most amazing part of my life. the people there, campers and staff alike are like my second family, and i love them with every piece of my heart. working there, i think, helps me deal with the loss of my brother bc the kids and staff all knew him so well. the kids miss him so much and it can be the hardest thing in the world sometimes to see these children cry and feel even more pain then they feel on a daily basis with their conditions, but all of us being together helps us all.
