Hindu power animal cave?
I was wondering if anyone else thought the power animal cave was inspired by Hinduism. Maybe the Amarnath Cave with the Shiva ice-linga (Wikipedia). Marla wears an animal skin inside the cave in one of the later ice cave scenes. "Shiva wears deer skin which indicates that he has controlled the mind perfectly" (Wikipedia). Even Marla's matted hair in the movie is similar the one of Shiva's traits. Shiva is a male though, but I guess some people see the movie going that way anyway. I know almost nothing about Hinduism, but I've read Shiva stories online that go with the destruction and rebirth theme of the movie.
I don't know how the penguin and "slide" could be anything Hinduism, probably just tying into the story. I like to think the penguin is symbolizing the destruction Microsoft to give birth to Linux.

Hey, and let us not forget the mantra of 'Calm as a Hindu Cow'. Which I find myself reguarly repeating when yet another fat ass replied to 'Are you eating in or out?' with the word, 'Yes'.
Interesting theory mind, but I don't see what difference it makes to the overall story. Other than when our models for God desert us, we fashion new ones in the image of our mothers. Or women in general? But that in itself seems to be more about masculinity than it is about God. But meh. Love dicussion.
yeah i really think everytime i see that part or read it that they were condoning homosexuality which makes marla confusing as well as the blonde guy who jack was jealous of so could tyler be his father figure and his lover ok thats a little sick.
