What exactly??
Lets post links here for things we'd like to get as a community gift for Prensa. Lets stick to things we can get off Amazon because it will save on shipping costs and they have a really easy return policy for gifts.
Books
Outfits
gadgets
you name it!
Post here and once we have our budget, we'll pick stuff out :)
EDIT: holy shit, check out the parent's checklist on Amazon!: here

Something weird about babies, they get kind of hypnotized by poetry. It helps them nod off! My mum used to read me this one story with a lot of alliteration and it'd make me fall asleep immediately. I don't know much about children's poetry but maybe someone else does.
This is a nice Miffy story(it's my favourite!):
As I mentioned before, I'd like to get her "Pat the Bunny."
Do you want to include it in the big community box that Teal will send? Or were you planning on sending it to Prensa yoursef?
Be the change you wish to see in the world.
bullshit, I'm bringing "HELLO, MY NAME IS: _____" badges for everyone.
Just so Mirkah doesn't erase this post:
I don't generally buy gifts for people, and when I do most the time they're books. I'm not sure Prensa needs any books from me, so I've got no idea what I'm going to get. So feel free to brainstorm some fun stuff, and I'll put my $0.02 into the hat.
EDIT: further reason to not delete this post:
It doesn't make a lot of difference to me.
I'm trying to figure out the best way to do this. If someone already planned on sending something and knew how they wanted to wrap it etc., I don't want to hijack that. Instead, we could coordinate to mail everything off the same day and deluge her with packages :)

Being deluged with packages is how she got into this mess!
I think they baby should have something that is not for immediate use. Something long term.
I remember half the stuff i bought my son, if not mostly all, was unnecessary and pointless.
The products geared for first time parents is brilliant, since you don't know jack shit and you are eager to buy anything for your first baby.
My next one will get breast milk, diapers, and Nyquil. That's it.
Even a crib is pointless.
So...We are still going to die. Right?
all in favor?
motion passed.
Then you should start a thread where people can post what they are sending her on their own so there isn't too much overlap :) Then later, you can remind them what day to send their package.
Also, who wants to be on the shopping committee? We're not getting many gift suggestions on this thread..
Anyone with kids aready would be a great help. I'd like to be on it because my sister can help me out. (She has two kids)

I just ordered a leather wrist strap off E-bay, and when I got it, they also sent me this awesome bondage gear catalogue. Let me know if it's needed here.
Cheers.
I am lame, the only thing i can think off is sending Prensa the money in a gift card and let her decide what is best for the baby.
I think you're right. Especially because you're the father to a young child.
How about we allocate some of the funds for cutsey things Teal can wrap and put in the box and then send the rest in cash in a fun pink piggy bank or something. Prensa digs thrift stores and this way she can buy what she needs and/or wants from thrifts or ebay or even the dreaded Walmart.

That's a good one.
The thing about giving a gift card or cash, is that there are many variables at play here. The height, weight, size for clothes as well as what a parent thinks it's an approved toy/item.
I am sure she would be thankful of three things:
a. A gift with some cult flavor in it. Something disctinctive from this group. (Are there any cult baby t-shirts? or items?)
b. Something practical or cute. I liked the practical stuff the most, like certain learning toys or even just showering gels and other stuff. My wife liked the cute outfits
c. The cash to choose what she wants or what is best.
So...We are still going to die. Right?
BAM!
so one that one that says i can kick your babys ass is the first babys mother saying that to another babies mother ? or is the baby itself saying that to the other mother ?

I have a suggestion: http://www1.burtsbees.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10001&storeId=10001&productId=10158&langId=-1&parent_category_rn=10001
