Dennis' Second Fight Club Review
aka: Forgive me Fincher for I have sinned

This will be short.
Because I have been enlightened...
I saw the film again today. I saw it as a movie this time. Not as a book to film analysis. Not as a crisis. Not as a research paper. But as a movie.
And it is perfect.
I mean that.
Quite flawless really.
I sat there this time with a look of awe on my face for the two hours plus that it was on screen. I had missed so much the first time around in my attempt to not miss anything. I heard lines I had misheard. I saw images I had only watched.
Fincher is a genius. This is filmmaking at the top of the game. Over 90% of the world's director's will never approach this level of moviemaking. I want to hug him and kiss his hand. He delivered one of the toughest adaptations I have ever read to the screen...perfectly.
See this film twice. Or else you haven't seen it at all.
Like I said, I won't talk about why I liked it so much more the second time. Just take my advice and view it again. You'll see what I mean.
I am in a warm place right now.

(since that day, Dennis went on to see Fight Club two more times in the theater and has since seen it on video and DVD around 12 times. not much, considering he's seen ALIENS over 100 times. but his opinion of the film has evolved. he now sees it as an old friend that surprises him when he least expects it.)

(as of looking at this review again, i'm currently in a much different place with Fight Club. while i technically think its a good film, and a great adaptation, the film in general just rubs me the wrong way now. i find it almost annoying and goofy and get embarassed when i'm in a room with people and it's on.)
