Writer's Section

Just two quickies:

1) There should be a more general forum for folks who want to post about writing.  Currently the forums are all based on the Lessons from Chuck, Self Assignment, etc. I think it would be helpful to have a more general forum section where folks can post about writers, writing, etc.

2) The Writer's Resource might want to include Neil Gaiman's pep talk from NaNoWriMo.

Thanks,

Asg

Re: Writer's Section

agree, agree..

ive wanted a "writing theory" forum forever, a discussion forum for anything to do with writing, and since we've absolved the top dogs and all star badges, we no longer need those forums either. just two workshop forums and one about everything else writing, it seems simple enough to be easy to nav through

and i did certainly enjoy the neil gaiman prep talk

my thoughts added-

I like the idea.  I just became a full member after the site had change and now I am realising that I will not be reaping some of the benefits from the previous site.......and I’m not part of a group :)

as you should be, you had impressive numbers.  i think that we are now looking forward to more serious participation and the top dogs and all stars were to show examples to new members, since many of the new members weren't putting in much work at the time.    the workshops is so much   as for your numbers, they'll still show, just we will have a different system is all.  from what i've gathered, it looks quite impressive, but i don't think i'm at liberty to go into more than that at the present time.  but rest assured, all of our previous accomplishments will transfer over.  i remember a small convo i had with e-j a while back:  he was worried that our story list and reviews and all of the information on our personal profile page, most of that will transfer over at some point soon, after a few more battles.  this whole change has been a much larger project than previously expected, but the changes are coming along fantastically.  just takes time.

brother barker..  no worries, as of right now, groups are new to all of us, at least the way they are now.  quite different.  you've come at quite an exciting time.  welcome as a full blown workshop member.   for the time being, look through and read the essays that are available.  this will give you some usefully used time before things start running smoothly and fast as all hell..  you have a lot of reading to catch up on and it's all at your disposal now that you're a full workshop member.  i do look forward to working with you.  welcome to the workshop, though its current form is different for even me, i think that it wont take long to greatly impress you.  and if you work hard and participate and be honest, we'll show you how things work and try to offer a way that teaches you the elements of writing that this workshop through trial and error has shown to many of us   welcome and i look forward to working with you in the near future   -kabol        ..

Re: Writer's Section

a minute ago was the third time i edited that last post, and it still formatted stupidly.  odd that the spaces dont adhere to the saved comment.  stupid that they don't..  i so need to learn that shit, the format type.  took a while for me on the original site, if memory serves.

but at least this offers me the oppertunity to express that not only will this site offer more than the old--including new, and the original--chuck essays, but also a wealth of oppertunity as far as navagation and the new "groups" and an updated "resource" page, we have more now than ever before.  hands down.

so, brother barker, you've come at a perfect time.  you are the new blood, the new breed.

Looking forward to it - I'll do my best to participate as much as possible.  The old was pretty good, looking forward to seeing the bar raised.

We can.  We'd just have to have different material than what we have over at write club.

Just found this, and now its time to read a real book and leave the intertubes alone:

10 Universities Offering Free Writing Courses

Might be another linkable resource...
