As deeper breathing returned, he coddled a dream of images of his future family, of himself and his love and children and in it he smiled the smile of one who works hard and provides, the proud father. The pride of the father. He stopped his thoughts and pushed himself to hurry because of the pride of a father like Ol Jim, because there are some people in this world you just shouldn’t rile.

everything seems to work perfectly. fthe odd reasons who-knows i thought the function wasnt working were obviously misleading. a text doc and a word doc and a simple jpeg all seem to attach perfectly, in fact far better, admittedly so, than on the old site
i may find some love for dupal someday after all
who knows, i may even care to learn how to spell it properly one of these days =)

I had a little difficulty with uploading an attachment, myself. Just tested since you tipped me about it. Couldn't get a link onto one of my own forum posts when I clicked in to edit it. I'm wondering if upload files only work on the opening post of a thread.
The Browse button is there on this reply post. And I'm testing it right now.
Thanks for your sleuthing on this J.Kabol.

P.S. Let's see if my own file upload works just below.
..
it didnt. i'll try a few things:

i'll try witha simple reply this time with firefox:

i'll try witha simple reply this time with firefox:
no, mark.. your theory is right on the money.
i cant even "quote" and attach a file in that set up. i'll try once more with safari, see if that makes any difference
with safari, you cant download workshop submissions, but you can with firefox and explorer, so pretty much everything i try, i try with all three browsers. because it makes it more monotonous.

As I just mentioned on your "One AM" thread, I'm now constantly logged in as Mark through Firefox and as Vig through Explorer, so always testing both.
It looks like we may just need to ask everyone to upload their assignments in the starting posts of new threads, but then copy all markups of others' work directly into the body content of reply posts--formatting them as well as possible.
That's completely workable except for Craig's preferred PDF files made from Hard Copy markups. No elegant way to handle those if he can't attach them in replies to student submission threads. But we'll figure something out.
Thanks for testing.

so.. you can only upload attachments on the first post. that's just enough, though
oh, and this is random but wonderful:
using safari greatly reduces my formatting issues and it also always spell checks with red blocks, so very useful. plus, the browser is a little bit faster. i recommend using it on the boards to anyone reading

Here's an ...idea/suggestion? I dunno what you'd call it because i don't think it would work either but it's something.
If you go to your user cp there's a tab to upload "Personal Files." where you can attach whatnots. I dunno if you can link to that page in your posts or not and the box they show up in is kinda small, maybe there's some way for everyone to download it from there to review each others work?

nate, I still have to try it with different permission sets, but as for the method you described above, you should be able to attach items by clicking either the image button, or the link button then choosing "browse server". I'm not positive I have it configured for all user groups, but it's a neat way for people to include images and stuff in posts/blogs/groups whatever.

hey.. it works. brilliant !!

i thought that perhaps if i clicked the "quote" button that the page would open a different format for replying, or a slight variation of the format proper, and of course now i know how silly that idea was
but, alas, now i can attach
very cool
