I’ve already critiqued five stories and have posted two of my own.  The problem is that they don’t show up on the little “recent submissions” screen, and nobody has reviewed them.  What up?

Re: Making submissions

hey, eyes..

sorry, homie.  not trying to ignore you.  i'm one of the workshop moderators and i'm still looking for answers myself, as well all are.   you've come at a time of excitement and promise:

the workshop has been working strong for years.  it is merely coincidence that youve come in perfect time to help us figure things out.

figuring:

for instance:  i cant find your reviews, not one of them.  used to be, you had to review five stories to submit one, and when you submitted a story, it took a week or more to "clear", to be made public.  now it's instant "clearing" as a default and the whole of the workshop is jarring right now, for all members--most especially those who've been here for years.

it goes like this:  the coder hired by the cult fell flat on his work and skipped out.  we are still integrating from a vb based site to this new Drupal (or whatever it's called) and we are caught with our pants down

you can't put a price on your writing improvement and you will at least learn perspective here

the workshop is not what it will be in six to eight weeks, so give it time.  i know that's a tad difficult and patience only lasts so long

i will get to your stories, to reviewing them, and i look forward to upping some new ones of my own.  i know you cant tell, being that our workshop profiles are down at the moment, but i've upped roughly twenty short stories and have reviewed more than two hundred.  i promise i miss the workshop as much as the next person.  it really is a phenomenon on the interweb  and it will be again soon.

I'll second this - th eworkshops are fantastic - good connections, good feedback. You'll have to tough it out with the rest of us, but it'll be worth the wait

Hey guys, sorry I've not gotten to this yet, but life has been crazy and all that.  Are you still not seeing these stories and/or reviews? I just looked, and an admittedly cursory examination shows that I appear to be seeing all of EyesLikeHoles workshop contributions. If this is still going on, I'll see what I can do about reproducing and fixing this week.

As far as the whats and whens, JKabol's timeline is pretty accurate, though I would very much like to move it up a little. I'm hoping to have time to really sit down and squash some annoying little bugs (including some in features that had to be disabled immediately before The Big Switch) in about two weeks. If in six weeks, the workshop isn't definitively better than the old one, I'll be pretty miserable. (Eight weeks at most for some reasonable moderation functionality, Kabol. You too, Mark, if you read this... hold me to it. ;) )

Anyways. Let me know if there's still a problem with stuff not showing up. If it is showing up, when did you notice it finally appearing?

 Hi Kabol,

.

I think we discussed this earlier, but at some point, will we get our Top Dog banner's back?  Will there be incentives for doing more crits?  Sorry if I'm being redundant, but can't remember the thread we talk about this previously.

Thanks,

Mark

hey, kirk

i'm not sure if you caught this thread:

http://www.chuckpalahniuk.net/forum/1000376/it%E2%80%99s-one-morning-and-workshop-sucks

i spent a few hours navigating the workshop, to see what worked and what didnt.  that was a few weeks ago.  a few days ago, i went back to the workshop and have not denoted any change or fluctuation or inconsistancies.  (i'll let you know when and if i do.)

many of the stories still dont have names attached to them (or at least on my computer by using either Explorer or Firefox).

the most recent story, i cant download.  probably user error and not so much workshop error there.  i'm just glad to hear that we'll [as moderators] be able to clean things up again in the future.

oh, and kirk..

let me know if i can help you in any way.  i'm still pretty much a lamen when it comes to computers, especially the tech ish, but i can run around clicking ifn ya think that'll help.
