BLINDNESS
i want to see it because I like the book, but all the negative reviews are pretty disheartening, mainly because what most people say seems like a reasonable result of the transition from the book to a movie, namely becoming largely a series of miserable events without pathos or particular insightfulness. More like a transliteration of a book to film than an adaptation, losing much of the spirit along the way.
Still, though, I plan on seeing it at some point, maybe that's all way off base, or maybe i'll like it regardless.
What'd you think?
On IMDB's trivia's section for Blindness it says,
To prepare for the film, the actors, extras and crew participated in "blind camps." They were blindfolded, taken in a car to an unknown location, and left in the middle of the street. However, there were always somebody there to guide them. Despite this, the director claimed that someone would always breakdown.
That sounds like a lot of fun! Wanna try it?
Happy Birthday, Sharky!
no.
but i liked the movie, the adaptation's close to the book. i suppose if you were seeing it without knowing the nuances told in the book, you'd be going "meh". you'd probably also think that there's a deeper meaning behind it that you can't understand.
I have the book but I've yet to read it, I actually got it because I knew they were making a film of it.
I haven't seen the film either.
I do know the blind folk got pissed because they were being portrayed as helpless, twisted, and immoral..
This leads me to two things:
1) They are missing the obvious metaphor, yada yada but most importantly..
2)
Who told the blind people?!?
