Hey there Everyone
Hey there I'm new but I am a big Chuck fan, I am really looking forward to being able to talk about books and other things with some cool new people. The sad fact of life is that I don't think any of the people I come into daily contact with even read anything at all! So meeting some new people and getting a chance to discuss some cool topics are the reason I joined the cult.
Watch your step in here, the sarcasm can pile pretty deep.
What other authors do you like? Have you read any Baer? Clevenger? Or House of Leaves?
Those seem to be semi-required around these parts...
It's a God-awful small affair to the girl with the mousy hair...
didnt chuck palahniuk write the new edition of the king james bible? maybe did the intro or something. probably an appendix, he seems more that sort, the appendixy sort. yeah, that seems right.
welcome, though. and, yes, give us the goods on books ye fancy.
WHY DOES EVERYONE LOVES HOUSE OF LEAVES? That book was fucking terrible
You should be able to relate to that book. The dude couldn't escape from the House much like you couldn't escape from your rolled up pantlegs. I think you're angry because it hit so close to home.

I like Dave Eggers, Douglas Adams, Stephen King, Neil Gaiman, China Mieville. Lotta playwrights: Mamet, Ibsen, Shakes, Durang. Very few authors that I'm a through-and-through fan of, more like individual books.

i like my books big and meandering and complex or taut and terse
i'll not make a list because itll end up me trying to out list myself, some trouble with lists where i cant stop until im well over fifty of whatever im listing so i refuse to do it or i'll spend the next two hours listing and naming and ordering something that no one even wants to read and something i probably didnt even want to initially write down but now we're here in this big stupid run on sentence about why i dont want to make a list.
no, the problem is that i get carried away. i mean, if im told to make a list of favorite authors, i tend to name and name and name, then i pick a single book by each of them and explain why its my favorite of their books which then leads me to explain why i like this particular author and why you should read him/her. its quite time consuming, really.
but i like some of vonnegut, hit or miss with me, but when hes good, hes typically great. i'll just leave it at this:
dostoevsky, stephen graham jones, baer, clevenger, fowles, melville, richard grossman
actually, stop, read THE BOOK OF LAZARUS by richard grossman now. order it on amazon this very minute. youll not regret it, and if you do, well, theres no hope for the likes of ye.
Okay I can't order it right now but i'll do you one better I'm leaving at 11:30 and my first stop will be the book store to pick it up. When I finish it I'll let you know what I thought.
For the most part I feel the same way about Vonnegut, his stuff I like I love but his works I'm not a fan of I wouldn't suggest for anyone to read.
Why do new people always think we read books here??!!1111
I know, I'm so sick of books! Let's talk about the weather for a while.
In English, when we say: "It is raining"
What the fuck is IT? Sometimes I wake up in a cold sweat afraid that IT has found me.
It's sunny and warm here, about 80. I haven't actually BEEN outside today though, I'm just kind of peering at it through the Venetian blinds.

That's so true. I want to find a scented candle called "Autumn in New York."

I prefer April, May, June, July, August and September in NY. But you are right...it does smell lovely. Also, I drove from Barryville, NY back to New York City yesterday and saw the most glorious scenery I have ever seen in New York.
Earlier this evening, Gordon Blackstone.

This is why I despise list threads. Because this is how it's supposed to be done but everyone just wussies out and just 1) 2) 3)'s it into nothingness. list threads are the forum equivalent to strained carrot baby food!
in the heat of burning air to watch the naked famele body is insane,

GOOD CAUSE YOU'RE NOT INVITED!

New York City....can be so pretty....
From a bird's eye view...
...even up close, it can be pretty. The City is beautiful at night. It's a different kind of beautiful, but still. Driving over the Brooklyn Bridge and up the FDR Drive at night is gorgeous...as is taking a boat down the East River at night. Agh.

Do you like it? Have you read any of his other books?
I'm just gonna assume this is at me.
Yeah, I like it. =) I read Haunted, Fight Club, Choke and Invisible Monsters! Think that's it anyway..
Yeah that was to you, sorry. I've read all of Chuck's works of fiction.
