CONVINCE ME.
in america, its illegal to die if youre under eighteen.
FACT!
Despite my poo-pooing of philosophy, I think that belief in a higher principle or Being (call it God, Chaos, Mother Nature, what have you) than one's self is vital to an ethical life. If you don't believe in such a principle, why act on anyone's interest but your own? And then all the great achievements of people who sacrifice so much for the betterment of their peers and life in general disappear, and what remains is only lust for fame, power, glory, prestige, and maybe money. When it comes down to it, looking after other people's interest is in your interest, because whether you like it or not, you depend upon other people. If you look after others' interests, they will look after yours. Sometimes they don't, and that sucks, but that's not a good enough reason to stop. Destroy belief in such a higher principle, and you get widespread nihilistic cynicism, which is just fucking annoying to be honest. Hence my hate-on for atheism, the doctrine, and not the people who espouse it necessarily (some of them are my friends). But hyperbole is fun!
She's good for you Phil. In your heart, though your mind may wander, you know her, and you know what she can bring to your life. Don't leave her. Don't hurt her.
(I don't know who she is or why I'm convincing you. You asked)
It's a God-awful small affair to the girl with the mousy hair...
I don't like the affinity of philosophy people have for Plato and Heidegger, both of whom I mostly deplore. Heidegger drives me insane! You read one of his essays, and you've read them all. All this "bringing-forth" and "standing-in-reserve" bollocks!
A lot of the utilitarians were dreadful bores as well.

What's your issue with Plato?
This is too obvious to merit any sort of convincing, so I'll just state the fact: I'm awesome.
this is not true.
