A little Chuck here and there

I realize I haven't written anything in awhile, and after I looked through my copy of Rant I remembered something and I was wondering if anyone else had stories like mine...

I was a junior in high school and it was May, when Rant had come out and Chuck Palahniuk was on his book tour.  There was this guy that I met around March or April, somewhere around there, I'm not sure, and we talked and became friends, etc. etc. And one day he walks into the Commons, in the morning, I was sitting at the table I usually sit at, alone because everyone else comes later because they either take the bus or they drive to school later. 

He hands me a copy of Rant and says it's for me.  I wasn't able to buy a copy yet, and was disappointed I wasn't able to go to Seattle when Chuck was there the night before.  So I open the book up, because that's how geeky I am, that I planned to read the book right that minute, and there it says "To Andy's Future (Lucky) Prom Date!! Chuck Palahniuk"

And this is the part of the movie where the sweet music starts and the audience is like, "aww.."
And I said yes, of course I will go to prom with you and we went to prom and it was one of those magical evenings that I'll remember forever.

Okay seriously, what really happened was, days later after I get the book, I get grounded because I wasn't studying for my AP English Language Exam (which was ridiculous because I got a 4), and I can't go to prom with him.  The truth was, I never liked him at all because he was the type of guy I would never see myself with, but I was willing to go to prom with him.

And now, this is the part where you realize life isn't like the movies, and all that Hollywood story-telling is really a bunch of bull.

So to ask my question again, does anyone have any stories like mine?
